About Team 8582
We are the Bryn Mawr School's first robotics team, Heavy Metal. Everything began in the fall of 2014 with six dedicated young women and our former mentor, Ms. Cheikh, who were all eager to explore the world of robotics. In the past six years, the team was able to bond as friends as we learned about the importance of having and recording our design process. This year, with the help of our mentor, Mr. Ecker, an additional goal of ours is to lend support to Bryn Mawr’s other teams, Team 9770 and Team 13381, and continue reaching out to our community. Our primary form of outreach and fundraising is our name tag business, where we not only raised money for the robotics team, but also brought awareness to robotics and FTC in our community. Every year we take part in the Maryland STEM Career Fair for Girls hosted by Bryn Mawr. While interacting with intelligent women in various STEM fields, we are able to promote robotics and FIRST, as well as encourage girls within the greater community to look for opportunities in STEM fields.
